The singer says his experience is proof that good music can find its audience and become popular without requiring huge investments in promotion.
Speaking about the song’s journey, Dr Lover Bowy recalled how a woman he met at a bar in Bweyogerere became interested in managing his career before Welaba had gained traction.
He said the woman, who was selling slippers and shoes at the time, believed in his potential and insisted on managing him for an extended period.
According to the singer, he later suggested that she organise a show in his home area to help push his music. They reportedly organised the event on a budget of Shs 250,000, with Dr Lover Bowy requesting that tickets worth Shs 70,000 be printed, knowing that the money would be used to promote his music.
"There’s a woman who was working in Bweyogerere selling slippers and shoes, and she found me in a bar. By that time, the song hadn’t hit yet, but someone can tell good music, and she insisted on being my manager for a long time."
He added that he received the Shs 70,000 and handed it to someone to promote the song while he continued preparing for the show.
He claimed that after the show, the woman left him in his home area and contacted him two days later, sending him Shs 250,000, which she said was all he had earned from the event.
