UGANGANS - KNOW THESE RIGHTS TODAY!

As of today, Ugandans should be aware of their fundamental rights and freedoms as enshrined in the Constitution of Uganda. Some of the key rights and freedoms that Ugandans should be aware of include:

  1. Right to life: Every Ugandan has the right to life, and no one should be deprived of their life arbitrarily.
  2. Right to liberty: Every Ugandan has the right to liberty and security of person, and no one should be subjected to arbitrary arrest or detention.
  3. Right to a fair trial: Every Ugandan has the right to a fair trial and should not be subjected to torture, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
  4. Freedom of expression: Ugandans have the right to freedom of expression, including the freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds.
  5. Freedom of assembly and association: Ugandans have the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association, including the right to form and join associations and political parties.
  6. Right to education: Every Ugandan has the right to access education, and the government has a responsibility to provide free and compulsory basic education.
  7. Right to work: Every Ugandan has the right to work and to choose their own employment.
  8. Right to health: Every Ugandan has the right to access health services, and the government has a responsibility to ensure the availability and accessibility of basic medical services.

It is important for Ugandans to be aware of their rights and to exercise them responsibly. They should also hold their government accountable for ensuring the protection and promotion of these rights. In case of any violations of their rights, Ugandans should seek legal redress and report any abuses to the appropriate authorities.
